Museum Ride* – 2 hours 4 minutes and 97.7 miles, plus lunch, plus state park visit
A pleasant country ride with scenic vistas and historical stops of interest.

Ride on Highway 70 and McLears Rd to Portola, where some may wish to stop and visit the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. Then loop east to Beckwourth and south to Sattley/Calpine on a good flat scenic road across the western end of Sierra Valley. Onward to Graeagle it’s a good road over Calpine Pass (6700′). Mountainous and somewhat curvy but not too much, wooded with high meadows. A memorable ride.
Graeagle is an old mill town converted to a resort community with several high end golf courses. Lunch spots in Graeagle are: Graeagle Restaurant, casual sit down; Graeagle Outpost, hot dogs; Graeagle Fros-Tee, window service, sit down, picnic tables, broad menu. All within 1/4 mile. After lunch it’s a short ride to Plumas Eureka State Park, and the Johnsville mining museum.
Johnsville is a historic mining town and is a must see in itself with some beautifully restored homes. It sits just below the local ski area, home to the famous longboard races – the first recorded downhill ski race in the Western Hemisphere. Return is via Blairsden and west on hwy 70 to Quincy.
La Porte Ride* – 2 hours 5 minutes and 62.6 miles of riding
A favorite ride of local motorcyclists.

The pavement is great, the first half is tight and uphill and the last half is long sweepers. La Porte is an old mining town and it has a small mining museum exhibit. The permanent population is 26 but there are a couple of good eating places – when they are open. The town is at 5000 feet and the ride tops out at over 7000 feet.
Be careful of the curves! There is one very deceptive decreasing radius off camber downhill curve with a cliff over the edge. Return is a reverse of the outbound route.
Option on return route, 2 hours 45 minutes riding and 102 miles (net add is 1 hour 43 minutes and 71 miles): with enough additional gas and time one can return the long way, continuing south from La Porte, right onto Challenger Cutoff Rd, continue onto Forbestown Rd, right onto Oroville Quincy Hwy (gas available 1.4 mi the other way), and continue on Bucks Lake Rd/Big Creek Rd/Main St back to Quincy.

Lake Almanor Ride* – 2 hours 11 minutes and 98.7 miles of riding, plus lunch stop
This is the main group ride with lunch!

Lunch is on the deck overlooking Lake Almanor at Plumas Pines Resort. Relax and take in the view before a leisurely return ride looping north through Chester, with views of Mt Lassen to your left, and back down the east side of Lake Almanor. Rejoining hwy 89 south there is plenty of time for stops.
With gentle grades and gorgeous views this is the must-do ride of the rally. One catches a glimpse of the Keddie Wye west of Quincy before heading north on hwy 89 through a series of ranching valleys. The town of Greenville, a rally stop in 2016 and destroyed by the Dixie fire in 2021, is rebuilding and welcomes your business. Please stop and shop on your way back after lunch.
Option on return route, 27 minutes and 17 miles (net add is 20 minutes and 11.4 miles): to take a left at Main St in Greenville and continue on N Valley Rd to Arlington Rd and Taylorsville followed by a short westward hop to CA-89 S again.

At the intersection with hwy 70 it’s a left turn for the short 12 miles back to Quincy and the fairgrounds.
Bucks Lake Ride – 1 hour 22 minutes and 40.3 miles of riding
You really must ride or drive and enjoy a stop at this cool mountain lake.

It’s a short ride to Bucks Lake. Leaves town through Meadow Valley and takes on the sweepers of Big Creek Road.
Coming back there’s a brief twisty ride down from the lake followed by the nice ride back through Meadow Valley to Quincy.
Food at Haskins Valley Inn, Bucks Lake Marina, and Lakeshore Resort at Bucks Lake
Downieville / Kentucky Mine Ride – 2 hours 38 minutes and 114.2 miles of riding
One of the most beautiful rides.

High elevation, continuous sweeping turns, truly a five star ride.
Leave by 9:30 AM to ride through Graeagle, a historic mill town, and over Lakes Basin, and just before Sierra City make a stop at the Kentucky Mine Historic Park and Museum to catch the 11:00 AM tour. Then continue through Sierra City to Downieville, where there are a number of restaurants for lunch. This ride returns by the same route, but it’s great both ways.
High Sierra Tour Ride – 4 hours 19 minutes and 179 miles of riding
This ride extends and combines two of the best rides; the Downieville Ride and the Bucks Lake Ride.

The roads are all good and the traffic is light. The lower part between Dobbins and Olive Highway may be pretty warm and have more traffic but it changes pretty fast once you get some elevation.
